L’Anse Creuse Public Schools presents the Pankow Vocational - Technical Center as a flagship institution. As a place of learning, it opens a door to a variety of opportunities and choices that prepare students for the challenges of entering into the job market. It encourages the development of operational and occupational skills that complement any academic agenda. Pankow Vocational-Technical Center is a partnership of students, parents and educators in a coalition of business, industry and community agencies. It is a relationship of people teaming with pride and joining together for the mutual benefit of each other.
Purpose
L’Anse Creuse Public Schools envisioned a facility dedicated to serve students with viable alternatives to full time college. The Pankow Vocational - Technical Center was built in 1972 to provide such alternatives. It was patterned after such facilities as the Kent, Calhoun, Genesee, and Leneaue County Skill Centers. However, the core programming was developed for the needs of L’Anse Creuse students. Passing time and growing needs of business and industry, as well as higher education, have required changes which now provide a wealth of new opportunities for all students in L’Anse Creuse Public Schools and, additionally, to other district high schools in Macomb County.
Programs
Programs and participants are the essence of the Pankow Vocational – Technical Center. Student interest, community needs, and career preparation requirements are the driving forces which shape the content of the existing programs of study. The staff and administration invest professional effort in defining course parameters, content and activities; and stand ready to change content, add or delete material as necessary to keep course material relevant. Further, the classes offered are "clustered" to provide support for the six career pathways adopted by the L’Anse Creuse Public Schools Board of Education. Selection of one or a combination of classes can provide the focus necessary for successful planning within the career clusters.
